Who am I?
I'm a Geek Dad, living in SE Virginia. I played NERO for many years, and am looking at joining the new game NUMINA when it starts. I've played D20 Modern and like RPG's in general and have a MASSIVE Warhammer 40K army that's gathering dust in the attic. I've recently started collecting miniatures for the game Warmachine.

I'm socially liberal, fiscally conservative and frankly the Gay Marriage amendment being passed in VA really pissed me off. Other than that, I don't follow politics much, its interesting, but also kind of like watching Sausage being made. Once you watch too much of it, you don't enjoy it anymore. So I have wrapped my blanket of Ignorance around me and get my Politics fix by watching the Safe version on TV by watching West Wing re-runs.

Why read my journal?
Depends on how much of a voyeur you are :) I tend to talk about a lot of stuff, but unless I know you well, the private stuff gets kept to only certain people, and its a VERY short list :) But the topics cover everyday life, mostly stuff about being married with Kids and the things that happen there in.

I am a VORACIOUS reader, I usually have a book somewhere near at hand. My room is covered in books/magazines/comics.

My wife and I have 2 kids, a boy (Ryan, 3) and a girl (Isabelle, 4 mo. 1yr old), Marla and I have been married since Oct 2001. We are in fact the picture of Geek Love. We met through AOL Personals, remained friends after a nice (and last) first date, and re-connected through ANOTHER personals website.

I'm a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Geek, I'm Not a trekkie/Stormtrooper type, but I do get my LARP on by playing NERO International at VALOR outside of Richmond. I spent 4?, 5? yrs running the kitchen for VALOR, and finally gave it up in the Spring of 2006 when child #2 was on the way.

What are my current major goals?
-Get Married (FINISHED)
-Have Kids. (FINISHED)
-Raise them well (In Progress)
-Go to college (On indefinite Hiatus)
-Go to Ireland
-Go to Australia/New Zealand
-Walk the Appalachian Trail
-Bike Ride Cross Country (VA to Seattle)
-Learn enough French and Spanish to fake it, or at least get directions to the bathroom
-Build a new set of Armor for Og my NERO character
-Drywall/make liveable, the 2nd floor of my house
-Learn how to do leatherworking (in progress)

4. New Deck, Possibly w/ a Hot tub.
5. - in progress -

A couple notes about "friends":

This is not a list of my friends. This is a list of the people I try and read daily and/or pay attention to in some way.

I subscribe to the LJs that I enjoy reading. Generally if I don't like reading most of what you write, I will "unfriend" your LJ. This may have nothing to do with you (YOU may be fascinating) and just reflect that you mostly post on topics I find uninteresting.

The more frequently you post, the more I care about signal-to-noise ratio.
